When it came the time to pick my outfit and birthday present, the two coincided into one and I decided to get spoiled and get a dress I have been dreaming about for months.
BoomBoomTheLabel is an English brand found online here and on Instagram here. Their photos are everywhere and I started researching their brand. Their items are handmade in England and they use great quality materials, making sure that their tightest fits are not see through. This last detail is what sold me on buying the Sweetheart Midi Dress in red. The size I got is an S and it is super comfortable and true to size. The prices are slightly higher than what we are used to from most mainstream brands, but they are absolutely worth it.
Shipping was very effective as well, having decided for the Express shipping (1-2 days). They shipped the dress a day from when I ordered it and it got to me in 2 days, perfectly. It came in a lovely black box with the brand name in gold. That is where I will store the dress itself, since it makes me very happy seeing it perfectly in order.
Now, for the undergarments. I did not wear a bra because the texture could be seen through and the back is half revealed. I did wear knickers, but a special seamless type from Intimissimi, and they were truly impossible to see.
I really adore this dress and I must say that it is totally worth the price tag. As soon as some new occasion pops up I will certainly shop again with them.
I have, for a long time, wanted to buy a perfume that represented me, that was unique, and that would become my signature fragrance. Of course, as I often do, I started my search online and was intrigued by the aura of love/hate surrounding Tom Ford fragrances.
These fragrances are, how to say, particularly unique and have to be worn by people who are just that. The ones I have tried are everything but sweet and nice. They are strong and in your face and everything all at once. In the end, I decided to choose Velvet Orchid. I did also try White Patchouli, but it was way too unisex for me, and Black Orchid, which posed the same problem, but it also reminded me of sad days, in a way, and decided I did not want that.
According to the Tom Ford website:
TOM FORD VELVET ORCHID IS AN ORIENTAL FLORAL THAT EVOLVES THE CARNAL GRANDEUR AND SEDUCTIVE POWER OF THE ICONIC TOM FORD BLACK ORCHID INTO AN UBER-FEMININE FRAGRANCE LAVISHED WITH NOTES OF COOL CITRUS, DRAMATIC PETALS, HONEY AND RUM.
I have to completely agree. The top notes, that hit you first, are cool citrus and bergamot. After a while, they merge into a mix of velvet orchid and rum, to then fade away into a vanilla background.
This is a very sexy and seductive fragrance. It is particular, yes, not everyone can wear it well, but I find it is so so alluring and noticeable in a sea of other perfumes. The lasting power is very good, I can still smell it on my wrists 10-12 hours after applying it. The sillage, which is the degree to which the fragrance lingers in the air, is pretty good as well. It only takes a gust of wind or a hair flip and everyone who is close enough can smell it.
Not to speak of the bottle, which is the quintessence of glamour and makes me feel very special every time I pick it up.
The cost, on the other hand, is slightly higher than other perfumes, but it is lower than most Tom Ford fragrances. I paid €140 for the 100ml bottle and I see it as an investment, as something that will make me happy in the long haul and help build my persona.
Score: 9/10 (because lasting power and sillage are never enough for me)
Attention everybody, I got myself a fancy bag. Or at least what I would call fancy. Beware, it’s neither Gucci nor Prada, so if that is what you are looking for, it was nice meeting you.
It’s been a while since I decided that I needed a good, sturdy, elegant bag to take with me during “important” (aka slightly diverse from the ordinary) day activities as well as for going out at night, at dinner and such.
I set a budget and found the one. THE ONE. I saw it on Zalando and fell in love with it that instant. It is a real leather black handbag by Lauren Ralph Lauren (a less expensive branch of the Ralph Lauren empire). It retailed at €260 but me being me, so very pragmatic, I found a discount code (by typing “zalando discount code” on Google, do it) and got it for around €230. Delivery, as per usual, was flawless (courtesy of UPS); it arrived the day after I got the delivery confirmation email.
I have already worn this bag out twice and it is sooooo comfortable and versatile. It feels and looks very luxurious and improves a basic outfit tenfold.
Detail wise, it has the logo on a moderately sized attachment and also on the bag itself and the zippers. The leather on the outside is not smooth, so it will not scratch as easily. Inside, the material is on the nude/beige side of the spectrum and it has one pocket with a zipper and two zipper-less ones. It came with a very nice and delicate dust bag (that I put it in when I am not using it).
I must say, I love this bag with every fibre of my body and I am so so glad I invested in such a piece.
Gymshark has been growing as a brand loved by YouTubers and Instagram influencers for the past 5 or so years and I just had to have a taste of the hype. They are known for making very aesthetically pleasing workout gear, supporting and collaborating with influencers like Nikki Blackketter and Steve Cook.
I decided to buy their most famous pair of leggings, aka the High Waisted Seamless Leggings in the Black Marl colour way. They retail at €52 and come in four different shades but since I am boring and serious, I went with the most neutral one.
The delivery process was very neat and there were no problems besides the fact that they had a defect, a popped seam on the inside, which I wrote about to their customer service on their Facebook page and they were very very efficient, sending me another pair of leggings, no charge on my part. So, despite what I had read on their page, their customer service was A+, for me.
Now, sizing has been known to be an issue with Gymshark and I can tell you that, with this particular type of leggings, you should consider going a size up. I thought about getting their XS (which is the size that almost every single one of their athletes wear), because there is no way in hell that my butt is bigger than Nikki’s. But, after doing some research, I decided to go for size S and I got it right. My hip circumference is 97cm and, by their logic, I should have been an XS (99cm). But their S is practically perfect for me, despite it being for 104cm circumference.
Burning question: are they squat proof? In my case, they are. Let me explain: at the gym, I wear no-show underwear (thongs), so it is basically obvious that nothing shows. You cannot see skin either. BUT, I have tried them on with normal underwear and in that case, they are a bit see-through.
Overall, I do think they are good quality for a good price and they most certainly do attract attention, thanks to the butt and thigh contouring.
This sale season was not as successful as what I am generally used to, but that means that I actually saved money, so that must be a plus. I always give myself a budget and I used less than half of it, a new record for me.
I ended up, as per usual, going on a shopping trip to Rome. It was tiring as hell, but I am content with what I bought. Let’s start (every item I could find online will be linked in the titles).
As soon as I saw this dress I fell in love. I find it to be very romantic and flirty. The skirt does not get too high, even if it is windy. I have been looking for a cute red dress for quite a long while, so I was pretty ecstatic when I saw this. This item was not on sale and I got it for €15,99.
Again, an item that was not on sale. I find these pants to be very elegant and a staple in any woman’s wardrobe. They are a statement piece and not something you see very often. I got them for €17,99.
3. Bershka – White Bralette
Unfortunately, I could not find this bralette online. It is very lovely, with lace detailing and slightly see through silk. I am still not sure wether I would wear this on its own or under a very low cut dress or shirt. We will have to wait and see.
Now, this bralette I definitely will not wear on its own, as it is very see through and cannot be exchanged for a top. I think I will wear it underneath a couple of dresses I have, black of course, and even a couple of dress shirts. It was on sale and I got it for €6,99.
5. Nuna Lie – Floral Dress
I already talked about this dress in this post and I am very sorry I could not find it online. It it very beautiful and I wish you would look at the pictures on that post to see how it fits.
6. Artlove Paris – Floral dress
I bought this dress for €50 from a boutique in my town and despite looking for the brand online I could not find this item. I suppose it is an indie brand and therefore harder to find online. Anyways, I love it. It has a very deep neckline and slits on both sides. I wore it to Rome on a Saturday and it was magical.
I have been eyeing this sort of diy palette for some time and I decided to finally buy it. It is the sort of palette that you create yourself. I bought it for €6,90 and it was not on sale.
8. WYCON – Refills
Of course, I wanted to start forming my palette with some nice colours and I picked three. First, shade 01 white matte, which was unintentional, as I wanted another one. Secondly, shade 40 marsala, which is a very unique yet popular shade that I have wanted for a while. Lastly, I got a metallic colour, shade 70 tortora satin, very intense. I have yet to use all of these colours, but I swatched them and they look great.
9. Etsy – Simply Notebooks planner
I decided to invest in a very good planner, since I am starting university in September and I want to be as organised as possible, therefore being as productive as I can. I ordered a very pretty hard cover planner, which apparently is not available anymore on the easy store, but the shop offers many other soft cover planners, here. Mine was an investment, since the planner cost €35 and shipping from Estonia to Italy was €10, for a total of €45. Unfortunately, my planner has not even shipped yet so I cannot show you how great it looks, but I plan on doing an organisation/planning post sooner or later.
I am back in the swing of things with this amazing impromptu photoshoot that my friend partook in; you can find her on Instagram here. Later in the evening we went to the pool where there were some salsa and bachata classes, so I felt like this dress was necessary. I bought it on sale from a store called Nuna Lie, but I am unable to find this particular dress on their site.
I have never been one for colour, but I want this summer to be full of flowy dresses, both floral and not. Being able to feel the air and wind is phenomenal. Also, the colour scheme on this dress is lovely, with pinks and dusty pastels.
I also decided to do something different with my makeup. I do not normally use colours, but since I have a couple of palettes I wanted to give it a try. I used the “En Taupe” palette by Zoeva, mainly the purple and lilac shades.
And to top everything off, here we have a moment where I do not have my resting bitch face on. Surprise. That might be because I am happy as of late.
I hope you enjoyed seeing these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Thank you so much for reading.
I cannot believe it has taken me this long to make the second part of this post, but here I am and I have a lot to say. Here you can find part 1.
There are also photos taken at the beach that I posted on another post, right here, in a swimsuit review.
For the rest of our trip I took pictures of the scenery and of all the beaches we went to. For example, we went to a pretty private beach, called Golden Beach, with very little sand but great water. Unfortunately, again thanks to the jellyfish alarm, I was too scared to get in.
Another place we visited was a hill near Maleny from where we could see the Glasshouse Mountains, which are very dear to the people native to Australia.
We also went to Point Cartwright where I sunbathed a bit and then took some pictures of the ocean.
Our flight back was less eventful and I could not wait getting back home. It was an amazing and fun trip with family and if I ever am to come back to Australia, I would have to stay for at least a month to really enjoy it as it should be enjoyed.
